The name “Asyla” comes from the plural of the word “Asylum”.
Asyla is a blend of malt and grain whiskies. The single malt whiskies are sourced from the villages of Alness and Longmorn whilst the grain whisky comes from Fife.
Additionally 50% of the blend is malt whisky, few blends use anything like this proportion of malt whisky. The whisky components are initially aged all in first-fill American oak barrels (ex Bourbon) with a small (5%) part in refill hogshead. After blending the Asyla is re-casked and then aged for a further 24 months.
